Good win
Well done to the Slashers trio who fielded for the seniors against Carlow in Pearse Park. Carlow used the defensive system which was hard to break down initially but in the 2nd half Longford found the net twice which decided the game. Dermot Brady was his usual rock solid self making many runs forward to link with mid-field and the forwards. Barry Gilleran saw lots of ball throughout the game and delivered a sound performance. Peter Foy worked hard all the way and was a key link between all line on the team.
Onward to round 2 of the qualifiers in two weeks time which means plenty of more football for the Slashers trio with every game now being a "do or die" scenario.
Slashers seniors had a good work out against Adamstown during the week which allowed the team express themselves against new opposition. Good to see Cíarán Farrell, Martin Nevin and Martin Tarmey back on the pitch after injuries and keen to get into the action. Colm Farrell had a very good game and his long kick outs are increasing every day. All players are looking forward to the next league V Mullinaghta and then into championship time.
Hard luck to Slashers ladies who played against Donegal in the U21 B All Ireland final at the week end. Longford were on the losing side on this occasion but it was a great experience for the Slashers players.
