Kilmacud Sevens

Our seniors took part in the Kilmacud 7s on 20 Sept in Dublin and joined clubs from around the country in a real festival of football. Slashers won their opening games against St. Patricks - Fermanagh 3-8 to 3-2 and Caherlistrane - Galway, 9-5 to 4-1 with Slashers players finding the net at will. However their last game in their section proved a much tougher proposition. They were defeated by Dromore, Tyrone 2-12 to 2-7. Dromore set up like the northern teams, defensively, and then counter attacked and looked for points rather than goals. Breaking down the defence proved difficult for Slashers. The sevens format is a great training session where speed and scoring go hand in hand.
