Free scoring game
The 1st May saw Flipeadóirí Longfoirt play an ACL game versus Dromard on their home turf on a lovely evening for a match. Niall Mulligan and Michael Brady lined up lár na pairce an area that was well contested by Dromard in the 1st half. Slashers entered the game knowing that goals would be necessary on this outing to ensure a victory but in that 1st half it was Dromard that hit the net on three occasions. Trevor Clendenning popped up at a key moment to shoot to the back of the net which saw Slashers go in at half time eight points adrift. Peter Foy had come off injured and was replaced by an in form Brian Walsh.
Heart
In the 2nd half Slashers showed courage and heart and powered into game. Adrian Duffy came on and contributed positively in a much more determined show of force. Niall Mulligan moved to full forward and found the net twice with Rúairí Clarke also finding the net with a beauty. Slashers were now showing plenty of strength and scores from Brian Walsh, Andrew Dalton, Colin Smith saw the team drawing in Dromard who ran out two point winners. Slashers continue to try out new players and the experiment is giving game time to younger guns who are getting experience at senior level. The team is moving in the right direction after this free scoring game.
All the very best to Trevor Clendenning and his fiance Yvonne who get married in the coming weeks. We wish them both a very happy day and a wonderful future together.
