Hurling Club Notes – 28th July 2014
Training for U8s, U10s & U11s this Wednesday at 6.30pm.
The Seniors are playing Lisnaskea/Woodford Gaels this Monday in round 2 of the Cavan League. With championship match on next Monday against Clonguish, let's hope they continue their winning ways.
There's another U13 blitz in Breffni Park, Cavan, this Wednesday which we hope to attend.
Finally, a special word of praise to the Longford County Minor Hurlers who competed in the All-Ireland 'C' tournament semi-final in Slashers on Saturday. Having beaten Sligo in a great battle, they then faced Mayo, who had also beaten Yeats County men. The winner would progress to the All-Ireland Final to be played at another date. The game finished 2-7 apiece after a pulsating contest where Longford came from 2 goals down to claim parity heading into stoppage time. Unfortunately, Mayo held out and qualified for the final by means of a greater score difference against Sligo. The lads were broken hearted afterwards but can hold their heads up high having given it absolutely everything and certainly did themselves and the county proud. Though it's scant consolation, most of this team is underage at this grade again next year.
