After their great run in the longford/Leitrim league the boys are now getting ready for the Longford League, last monday they Played Clonguish, result is unknown at the time of posting.after that there will be a break until August 21st from league matches but training and Challenge games will be ongoing through the summer under 14's
Under 14 league Final.
Last Monday evening the Division 2 Under 14 team took on Ardagh in the League Final out in McGann Park, Keenagh. The lads started well and were in front throughout the game but a couple of late goals from Ardagh won it for them, hard luck to our boys who are having a great year despite the result, the team is made up mostly of players who are only 11,12 and 13 year olds and have been playing most clubs first selections.
After the game the team and supporters went back to Supermacs,Longford for refreshments and where Dinal Swaris of Supermacs made a formal presentation of a couple of sets of jerseys which he has Sponsored .The club are most thankful to Dinal for his kind sponsorship and hope that this is the beginning of a long link with Slashers
Training is on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6pm.
Juvenile/under 16's
Last Wednesday Night the Juveniles were unlucky to lose 4-8 to 3-7 against a Mostrim/Clonbroney side. the lads have been playing very well this year but are not getting the luck in games however they are showing good heart and commitment despite being without some key players through injury and hopefully the results will start to come.
Minors
Our minor team suffered defeat against Western Gaels in the league last Tuesday Night in Michael Fay Park. Western Gaels were totally dominant in the first half and were in front 1-9 to 0-2 at the break. However our lads put in a most gutsy second half performance to eventually lose out 1-13 to 1-8. It was difficult to pick out any player who impressed in the opening half. However a much better second half performance saw Hugo Carey, Cian Finnan, Robbie Clarke and Cian Kavanagh come to the fore. Jamie Masterson grabbed our goal. Shane Kenny was the dominant figure for Gaels while Stephen Farrell, John Hand and Iarlaith O'Sullivan also impressed.
Senior Championship
Well done to Denis and the Senior team for their good win against Drumlish in the first round of this years championship. It was great to see some of last years Minors playing in the team and performing well. Well done lads.
