This Friday in Newtownforbes our Seniors take on Wolfe Tones in Round 2 of the County Hurling Championship at 7.45pm. Having previously defeated Clonguish in Round 1, a draw would be enough to see us through to the County Final on October 1st.
Congratulations to our U12s on recapturing the County title after a tough contest with rivals Wolfe Tones on Sunday. Opting to play against the breeze in the first half, the sides were level at halftime, 1-2 apiece. However, the boys got on top in the second half & finished strongly to seal the victory. Final score: Slashers 2-5 Wolfe Tones 1-3
Meanwhile, our U16s were attempting to repeat the dose in the Juvenile decider & trailed by a single point at halftime. Danger man Ronan Kenny was on the receiving end of 'clumsy' challenge which resulted in a broken collarbone & unfortunately the game got away from us in the second half. Congrats to Wolfe Tones & hard luck to our lads who battled throughout. The club wishes Ronan a speedy recovery. Thanks to everyone who came to support us on the day.
