Flipeadóirí Longfoirt hurlers pucked off the championship with a first round win V Wolfe Tones on Saturday evening. In an evenly contested fist half Slashers managed to break through for the only goal of the half to reach the short whistle, eight points ahead, helped in no small way by an excellent half in goal by keeper Adam Murray.
Slashers grew in confidence in the 2nd half despite solid Mostrim play, ran out winners to begin the championship in "wristy" form.
