Our senior men were in action on Friday evening in Round 3 of the Championship against Mullinalaghta in a game with four very distinct phases. Mullinalaghta started strongly, leading 0-5 to 0-2 after 15 minutes. Slashers then found their rhythm, overturning the deficit to take a 0-9 to 0-7 lead at half-time.
After the restart, Mullinalaghta hit a run of unanswered points and found the net to move five points clear. During this period, Slashers missed a couple of good goal chances that would prove costly. To their credit, the lads battled back, with Sean Clarke striking a well-taken goal, and the game was level heading into the final quarter.
The closing stages were tense and cagey, with both sides trading points. With five minutes to go, Mullinalaghta worked a fisted point to edge ahead by one. Despite a huge effort from Slashers, the equaliser proved elusive, and the game finished 1-13 to 1-12.
Next up is another crunch tie against Rathcline on Sunday, 17th August at 4:00 PM in Michael Moran Park, Carrickedmond.

Juniors
Our junior squad, missing several regulars, endured a tough outing last week, losing out in Round 2 on Monday evening against Legan. The focus now turns to bouncing back when they take on Carrickedmond in Round 3 this Wednesday, 13th August at 7:45 PM in Carrickedmond.
Best of luck to both teams this week – and as always, we’d love to see a strong Slashers crowd out in support.

Congratulations to our Senior Ladies who have won the Division 1 title for the 3rd year in a row. The final took place on bank holiday Monday last week, and was part of Dromards unveiling of their new pitch. It was a good game throughout with Clodagh Lohan and Kara Shannon scoring 2 goals a piece. Other scorers on the day include Grace and Kate Shannon and Rachel Walsh.
We would like to congratulate Dromard on the re-opening of their pitch and we would also like to thank them for awarding our team with commemorative medals to mark the special occasion.

The ladies followed this up with a winning start to their championship campaign on Friday night with a 10 point win over Carrickedmond.
Longford Slashers: 2-14

Carrickedmond: 0-10
The first half was a close affair with both teams keeping good possession of the ball and working some well earned scores. We converted more of our scoring opportunities resulting in us going into the break 0-8 to 0-5 points ahead.
We started the second half really well against the wind. Midway through we scored two goals in relatively quick succession. The first was a well worked team goal finished by Clodagh Lohan and the second was a lovely finish from Grace Shannon, both goals coming at a vital time in the game.
Other scorers on the night include Kate Shannon, Lara O' Connor, Caoimhe Lohan and Grace Kenny.
Hurling
