Attention now turns to the relegation round-robin, where Slashers will battle it out with Fr Manning Gaels, Granard, and Mostrim, with two teams set to go down.
First up is a crunch tie against Mostrim this Friday, 12th September at 8:00 PM in Ballymahon.
Best of luck to Conor and the lads as they aim to retain senior status for 2026 — strong support from the sidelines could make all the difference.

⚪🔵 Junior Men’s Football
Our Juniors faced Killoe in Round 4 of the championship on Tuesday evening in Michael Fay Park. While results elsewhere had already ruled out semi-final qualification, the team were determined to deliver a strong performance after earlier setbacks.
The first half was tightly contested, with the sides trading scores before Killoe went in at the break a point ahead. They pushed on after half-time, building a four-point cushion. Slashers rallied strongly in the closing stages, dominating possession and pushing hard for a goal, but it just wasn’t to be.
Final score: Slashers 0-9 – Killoe 0-13.
Attention now shifts to the final group stage fixture, which effectively becomes a relegation playoff against Colmcille.

🔵⚪ Senior Ladies Football
Well done to our Senior Ladies, who were victorious on Sunday morning against St Brigid’s Ardagh in the final round of the Championship.
Final Score:
Longford Slashers: 5-8
St Brigid’s Ardagh: 3-2
The opening half was a tight affair as both sides adjusted to the wet, breezy conditions. Kate Shannon grabbed our only goal of the half, and thanks to key saves from Emer Casey and strong defensive work, Slashers went in at the break 1-3 to 1-2 ahead.
The second half burst into life, with six goals scored across 30 minutes. Kate Shannon added her second, with further goals from Orla Nevin and two from Clodagh Lohan, sealing a deserved win.
This result means we top the group and now look forward to a Championship semi-final in two weeks’ time.

U10 Boys
Our U10 boys had a busy and memorable week. On Monday, they hosted a blitz in Michael Fay Park against Ardagh, before travelling to Celbridge on Saturday for the 11th annual Festival of Football.
The lads played five highly competitive games, performing brilliantly across the day. With 32 teams from 29 clubs, representing 22 counties and all 4 provinces, it was a fantastic celebration of the game. The emphasis was firmly on participation and enjoyment, and our young Slashers more than rose to the occasion.

U10 Girls
The U10 girls took part in their ninth blitz of the season on Saturday in Ballymahon. Their improvement throughout the summer has been clear to see, thanks to their hard work and the commitment of coaches Peter Leacy and Ciaran O’Neill.
Well done girls! 👏

U14 Boys
The U14s delivered a superb display on Monday last, overcoming St Francis to book their place in the U14 “A” Final.
Goals at key moments combined with solid defending made the difference in what was a tough, physical battle from start to finish. Contributions came from all over the field, with substitutes also adding great energy when introduced.
Final Score:
Longford Slashers 6-18 – St Francis 3-8
A huge win for the lads in sky blue 💪. Best of luck to Éamonn and the team as they prepare for the final on Saturday, 20th September at 12:30 PM (venue TBC).
