🔵⚪ Senior Men’s Football Our seniors were back in action on Thursday evening against Fr. Manning Gaels in the second round of the relegation round-robin. Played in wet conditions at Clonguish, both sides fought hard knowing how much was at stake.
Gaels made the most of the breeze in the first half with a series of 2-pointers, but a crucial Slashers goal just before the break gave our lads momentum and had the game level at half time. In the second half, Slashers stepped up and restricted Gaels to just two points, while our bench made a huge impact. Final score: Slashers 2-14 – 0-13 Fr Manning Gaels.
The following night, Granard’s win over Mostrim meant that both Mostrim and Gaels are relegated — with Slashers securing senior status for 2026! The final round of fixtures will not be played, so with that we wrap up the senior season. Well done to Conor, his management team, and the entire squad for their effort and commitment this year.

Junior Men’s Football On Saturday evening a week ago, our juniors hosted Colmcille in the final round of the Junior Championship group stages. This was effectively a relegation playoff with Junior A status at stake.
With heavy rain throughout the day, conditions were far from ideal. Slashers started brightly and went in at half-time with a two-point cushion, though they may have felt they left a few more scores behind. After the restart, however, the lads really upped the tempo, pushing on strongly and sealing a convincing win on a final scoreline of 2-13 to 1-8.
That result secures Junior A status for 2026 and brings the season to a close. Well done to the entire panel, who saved their best for last, and sincere thanks to the management team of Derek Swaris and Niall Caslin, with valuable support throughout the year from Cian O’Nualan.

🏆 U14 – County Champions!
Unbelievable scenes on Saturday as our U14s captured the U14 A Championship title, completing a league and championship double!
In a pulsating contest against St. Vincent’s, the lads showed incredible composure to edge this game, winning on a scoreline of 0-21 to 2-9 — with all 21 points coming from play 🤯👏.
Huge credit to Eamonn Seoige, Chris, and Cathal for guiding the team all year. Celebrations were made even more special with a Garda escort and chauffeur Martin Glennon bringing the champions back to the clubhouse 🚔🎉.
A massive thank you to families, friends, and everyone in the club for their support — what a day for Longford Slashers! 🔵⚪
