Warriors. Every one of them. Slashers battled, led, and fought for every ball in a heroic display that had the sky blue and white army in full voice.
With five sets of brothers on the panel, the spirit, pride and unity of this group was clear for all to see. After controlling long stretches, the lads were edged at the end by a late Amsterdam free in an extra-time spell where several stoppages — injuries, subs and breaks in play — seemed to pass without being fully reflected in what remained on the clock.
Credit to Amsterdam on a mighty contest. Enjoy the celebrations — and may this victory help bring your dream of a home GAA pitch in Amsterdam one step closer.
To our own — this is a team on the rise. A team with fire, belief and a future that shines brighter with every game. This season was something special, and every player, coach and supporter should be incredibly proud.
