Senior Men’s Football
The Longford Slashers senior men travelled to Rathcline on Friday evening for Round 7 of Division 1. After a closely contested opening half, Slashers went in at the break holding a slender one-point advantage.

Both sides exchanged goals early in the second half and with fifteen minutes remaining the teams were level. However, a strong finish from Slashers saw them secure a hard-fought two-point victory.

The seniors are at out again this evening (Tuesday) against Colmcille at 8pm in Michael Fay park - make sure to make the most of the weather and get up to support the lads! 😎

The Division 3 side were in action on a hot and sunny Sunday afternoon against Carrickedmond in Michael Fay Park. Carrickedmond struck for a number of counter-attacking goals which ultimately proved decisive and swung the contest firmly in their favour. Despite continuing to battle throughout, Slashers were unable to close the gap as Carrickedmond ran out winners.

This team will look to bounce back quickly as they prepare for Round 3 away to Legan on Thursday evening at 8pm.

Congratulations to Eoin, Peter and Dara who were part of the Longford senior panel that recorded an excellent Tailteann Cup victory over Clare. Longford now host Down on the 6/7th June - details TBC.

Hurling Club
Best of luck to the Longford senior hurlers, who will be strongly represented by Longford Slashers players, in the Lory Meagher Cup Final against Leitrim this Sunday at 12.30pm in Croke Park.

The club would encourage all supporters to get behind the team for what promises to be a great occasion. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster, with the final forming part of a double-header alongside the Dublin v Louth football championship clash.

The U14 hurlers were in Táin League action against Athleague-Tremane-Oran in Oran on Wednesday last. While the result did not go their way, the lads produced a brave and spirited performance, particularly in the second half.

On the same evening, the U16 side travelled to Mullingar to face St Oliver Plunkett’s and came away with an impressive one-point victory following an excellent encounter.

Minor Club
Best of luck to the U16 footballers in the Division 2 League Cup Final against Colmcille this Thursday, May 28th, at 7.30pm in Michael Fay Park.

Our U10s travelled to Killoe on Tuesday evening last for an enjoyable blitz, with all players showing great enthusiasm and spirit despite difficult weather conditions and persistent rain.

On Wednesday night, our U14 girls produced an excellent performance to record a well-deserved victory over Sean Connollys in Ballinalee.

Thursday evening saw our U14 boys narrowly lose out to Granard in a closely fought contest at home. It was an emotional occasion for all involved following the sad and sudden passing of Patrick Clyne, who was very much in everyone’s thoughts, especially with Patrick Junior taking to the field.

On Friday night, our U12 boys battled bravely against a very strong Mostrim side. Despite the result, the team showed great determination and effort from start to finish.

Also on Friday evening, our U17 girls delivered an outstanding display away to St Helen’s in Drumlish, securing a comprehensive and deserved victory after a dominant team performance.

Well done to all players and mentors for their continued dedication and commitment throughout the week.

Cumann na mBunscoil
Well done to Melview (1A) and St Michaels (1B) who were successful in their cumann na mbunscoil finals on Friday and Monday. It's fantastic for Longford Slashers to see such talented footballers coming up through the ranks.

2026 Annual Golf Classic
The 2026 Longford Slashers Golf Classic is fast approaching and will take place in County Longford Golf Club on June 20th, with tee times running from 12pm to 2pm.

The booking link is now open for teams wishing to reserve a tee time, while opportunities also remain available for tee and green sponsorship. There are only a limited number of slots remaining on the timesheet, so early booking is advised to avoid disappointment.

The club would like to thank everyone for their continued support of this important annual fundraiser, which promises to be another enjoyable day for all involved.
